Hajj 2026: Kano pilgrims Board screens 1,253 intending pilgrims

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it has successfully screened and immunised 1,253 intending pilgrims as part of the preparations for 2026 Hajj exercise.

The leader of medical team, Dr Aminu Da’u, disclosed this in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Sulaiman Dederi, issued on Thursday in Kano.

Dederi quoted Da’u as saying that the prospective pilgrims were drawn from 20 local government areas of the state.

“The exercise was aimed at ensuring that all the intending pilgrims are medically fit and properly immunise in line with national and international health requirements for Hajj operations”,he said.

He said the importance of the medical screening and immunisation in safeguarding the health and well-being of the pilgrims throughout pilgrimage period cannot be overemphasised.

Da’u said the exercise was being conducted in phases to accommodate all the registered intending pilgrims across the state.

He assured public that qualified healthcare professionals were handling the process with utmost care and professionalism.

Da’u also stated that the board was committed to ensuring a smooth hajj operation, with priority placed on health, safety and welfare of all the intending pilgrims.

He added that the screening and immunisation exercise would continue for the remaining pilgrims as scheduled.
