The Executive Chairman, Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Kabir Abdullahi-Gafia, has disbursed N18 million no fewer than 727 indigent people in Kaita Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina to make the forthcoming Ramadan fast relatively easier for them.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the empowerment exercise was held on Sunday in Kaita town, Headquarters of Kaita Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the epochal exercise, Gov. Dikko Radda, represented by the Secretary to the State=Government, Abdullahi Faskari, commended the invaluable gesture.
According to Radda, the gesture will go a long way in reducing the economic hardship of the beneficiaries, especially as the month of Ramadan is approaching.
He called on the beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture, especially through making proper use of the money, and supporting other people around them.
The Governor said, “By supporting people around you, this empowerment provided to you will benefit you more than you think.
“Therefore, you are also expected to remember those around you.
“This empowerment will complement my administration’s efforts and commitments towards ensuring the well-being of the people, particularly through our empowerment programmes.”
Earlier in his remarks, Abdullahi-Gafia, said that the gesture was part of an effort to compliment the commitment of the governor, especially to the less privileged people.
He expressed hope that the beneficiaries would utilise it during the holy month of Ramadan, saying that different categories of people will benefit from the gesture.
According to him, the gesture will reach less privileged people, people with special needs, traditional and religious leaders, youths, members s of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and other stakeholders.
Abdullahi-Gafia added that the gesture was part of his sustained efforts to pay back to the people for their support to the present administration in the state during the 2023 elections.
