UMYU management inspects ASUU secretariat project

The management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University UMYU Katsina, has conducted an inspection visit to the nearly completed Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU Secretariat within the institution, reaffirming its commitment to infrastructure development and staff welfare.

The delegation, led by the Vice Chancellor Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Yusuf El’ladan who spoke on the significance of the project during the visit.

Professor El’ladan commended the efforts of university personnel involved in the construction and renovation of the secretariat, noting that the work was largely executed internally. He stressed that such contributions would stand as a lasting legacy for the institution.

“What we do today is what we will be remembered for. All these efforts are geared towards the development of the university and the progress of Katsina State” he said, while offering prayers for guidance and the judicious use of the facility upon completion.

The ASUU Chairman of the university Comrade Murtala Abdullahi Kwara, expressed appreciation to the management for its sustained support towards the project. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of the University Bursary Department and the Directorate of Physical Planning and Development DPP&P, noting that the project has reached about 99 per cent completion.

He appealed to the management to further assist in furnishing the secretariat hall, emphasizing that the facility would serve not only ASUU members but the broader university community. The chairman also suggested that the proposed gymnasium site be relocated to the secretariat complex to enhance its utility.

Also speaking, the University Registrar Muhammad Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the level of work achieved and lauded the spirit of collaboration among stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of teamwork in driving institutional development and wished the project continued success.

The ASUU Secretariat complex is designed to be a multi functional facility, equipped with a mosque, mini mart, restaurant, chairman’s office, secretary’s office, additional offices and two kitchens.

Other features of the complex include two halls with seating capacities of 250 and 100 respectively, four chalets, a gymnasium site, sports arena, garden and three public convenience facilities.
