A Kano division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria has convicted and sentenced Kannywood actress, Sa’adatu Mohammed Inuwa, also known as Samha, to six months imprisonment for abusing and mutilating the Nigerian currency.
The judgment was delivered on Friday, February 13, 2026, by Justice S. M. Shuaibu, who found the actress guilty on a one-count charge bordering on the mutilation of the naira.
According to the charge, Inuwa tampered with a N1,000 note issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by soiling it with her nose in 2022, an act said to contravene Section 21(1) of the CBN Act, 2007.
When the charge was read in court, the defendant pleaded guilty.
Following her plea, prosecuting counsel, Musa Isah, reviewed the facts of the case and urged the court to convict and sentence her accordingly.
In her allocution, the actress pleaded for leniency, informing the court she was a first-time offender and had shown genuine remorse for her conduct.
Justice Shuaibu subsequently sentenced her to six months imprisonment, with an option of a fine of N200,000.
