There was chaos during Tuesday’s sitting of the National Assembly of Nigeria after opposition lawmakers alleged they were pressured and intimidated into approving the amended electoral law.
The situation escalated when some members of the House of Representatives staged a walkout from the chamber in protest against the process.
Despite the protest, both chambers of the National Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate, went ahead and passed the amended electoral bill.
A video showing the heated exchanges and disorder in the chambers on Tuesday, February 17, has since sparked nationwide debate over the growing dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in recent political developments.
