An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, ordered the remand of a 27-year-old man, Emeka Ezeani, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over alleged sexual assault of a teenager.
The Chief Magistrate Mrs. Omolara Kushanu declined to take the defendant’s plea and directed that he remain in custody pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She adjourned the case until March 18.
The defendant, a welder residing at Igbogbo, in Ikorodu, Lagos, is charged with defilement.
The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that he committed the offence on Dec. 9, 2025, at Ikosi Road, Ketu, Lagos.
Ademigbuji alleged that the defendant accosted the victim, a 16-year-old girl, on her way home from the shop and lured her into a building.
He alleged that Ezeani sexually assaulted the girl and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravene the provisions of section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
