Jigawa: Ex I-G, Sulaiman Abba,, dumps APC, joins PDP

Former Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Sulaiman Abba, has dumped All Progressive Congress (APC) for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sulaiman announced the decision while addressing members and other supporters at Bamaina, the country home of former Governor of the state, Alhaji Sule Lamido.

“There is no magic, the truth is I’m a PDP man now who aspires to become a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and In Sha Allah I will be there,” Sulaiman said.

He recalled how he was rejected by APC after attempting to contest for senate in 2019, even after undergoing screening.

“Like you’re aware, I tried to become a senator under APC, but was not allowed to even participate in the primary election after I had successful gone through the screening,” he lamented.

The former I-G reiterated that he aspires to become a senator in order to represent and serve his consitences well, if elected.

“My inspiration serve my community, having been blessed with good education, sufficient experience, good health, having been blessed with the ability think and act, I felt I should remain valuable to the community that produced me.

“And that’s why I moved to where (PDP) where I can get the opportunity to contest. In fact, if I say that I was called, I will not be wrong, and I answeerd the call.

“That has been an opportunity for to prove every Nigerian that what happened in 2015 wasn’t meant harm PDP that was in power, not was it made to hurt rhe leadership at that time. You can see now, I had nothing against PDP, when they called me I answeerd. I had nothing against APC, in fact people though I was supporting APC, but you could see the same APC rejected me when I wanted to ride imto their and perhaps get carried into the national assembly” the ex-I-G said.

Abba further stated that his movement into the PDP would enable him contest the senatorial seat for Jigawa central.

Receiving the former police boss, Lamido said the development would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

He also assured the new member that he would be treated equally and fairly with old members of the party.

Earlier, the PDP Chairman in the state, Babandi Ibrahim welcome the former IG to the party.

Ibrahim said the part is ready to integrate Sulaiman and his supporters into its fold in the state.

Some of the dignitaries that witnessed the included PDP governorship candidates in Gombe, Bauchi and Kano, Prof. Isa Ali-Pantami, Adamu Usman, Muhammad Bello, respectively, among others.
