The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano State Command , has swiftly responded to a fire outbreak at a truck sales yard, saving property believed to be worth about N560 million.
The State Controller, Mr Kazeem Sholadoye, disclosed this in a statement signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin, on Tuesday in Kano.
The incident occurred on March 16, 2026.
According to him, the service received a distress call at about 1:45p.m from No.14 Murtala Muhammed way, in Dala Local Government Area Kano State.
He added,”Upon receiving the report, we immediately deployed our firefighters team from the Federal Secretariat station to the scene.”
Kantin said the fire affected a truck sales yard where trucks are displayed for saleas at the time of their arrival.
The Public Relations Officer said that the area is about 30.48 by 60 metres successfully confined to a single truck head,” he said.
Kantin said that preliminary findings indicate that the fire was caused by suspected bush burning.
He said due to the swift response and professionalism of the personnel, property valued N560 million were saved, while estimated losses stood at N70 million.
Kantin said, “No casualty was recorded, and the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure that there was no further risk of fire.”
He also said the firefighters, in collaboration with personnel from the State Fire Service Headquarters, Kofar Nasarawa, brought the fire under control using two medium jets of water.
He advised the public to exercise caution, particularly with bush burning, to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
