The Military Secretary (Army), Maj.-Gen. Everest Okoro, on Tuesday has urged officers to take charge of career progression
Okoro gave the charged while delivering a career sensitisation lecture to officers of the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna, the lecture, held at the Lt.-Gen.Toareed Lagbaja Hall, Ribadu Cantonment, was aimed at enhancing career development, professionalism and leadership capacity among officers.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, said the session was a strategic initiative designed to strengthen personnel management within the army.
Wase noted that operational effectiveness must be complemented by structured career management to sustain morale, discipline and professional growth.
He urged officers to take responsibility for their career progression through continuous learning, discipline and dedication to duty.
Okoro, in his lecture, highlighted the importance of effective career planning, stressing that proper management of postings, promotions, courses and other entitlements remained critical to professional development.
He added that the initiative aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force capable of discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
The officers from various formations, units and establishments within the division’s area of responsibility attended the lecture.
