Jigawa Police Command presents over N12m to families of deceased officers in Jigawa

The Police Command in Jigawa has presented over N12 million cheques to 10 families of personnel who died in active service.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr Haruna Yahaya presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on Thursday in Dutse, as part of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day by the command.

Yayaya said the gesture was to recognise the sacrifices and unwavering commitment of the fallen heroes while in service.

He explained that the cheques were given under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, to cater to the welfare of the beneficiaries.

The CP, who sympathised with and appreciated the families of the fallen officers, added that no amount of compensation can replace the lives lost. According to him, the gesture demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Forces to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

While urging the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously, Yahaya reassured officers and men of the command that their sacrifices will never go unnoticed.

He also urged them to remain, steadfast, dedicated and professional in the discharge of their duties.

The CP, who reiterated the importance of the National Police Day as a period of reflection, recognition and renewed commitment to service, called on members of the public to continue to support and cooperate with the police in the collective effort to maintain peace and security.

Mannir Ismail and Umar Usman who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, lauded the gesture and expressed their bgratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Jigawa State Police Command for the support and recognition accorded to them during this difficult time.
